This staircase originally had carpet. The homeowner is renovating the front foyer. So we put new treads, risers, stringers and cap to complete the stairs, matching the floors she had upstairs.
"Can you make us a couple of bunk beds? We are expecting our sixth child." Sure! We can help. The customer brought to us nine, old pine, 3x3 inch posts that he got from an auction. He then sent us a photo of the bunkbed he had in mind. We went rummaging through the wood collection we have and found pine boards that matched the posts. We did a mortis and tennon on the boards and posts, made safety rails for top and bottom. We then stained them special walnut and applied 3 coats of finish on them. The weather was so nice the day we applied the finish, 70°F in February!
There was an old house in a nearby town that has become a landmark. The house was built in 1907 and remodeled in the 1920's. When we first saw the floors they were quite neglected, blackened by years of adhesives from carpets and dirt. We started on the second floor sanding away the gunk and dirt. The more we sanded the more the floors came to life, showing the beautiful, ornate inlays around the rooms. Here are a few photos of the work done. Hall entrance upstairs (before) . Last November a tragedy happened, a fire burned out a house, so the whole inside was gutted out. The family had contacted a framer to rebuild the inside. He had called us to install the hardwood floors and could we build the kitchen cabinets. We said we can help. This Summer we built the cabinets to look just like the ones that were there prior to the fire. We got there and the kitchen looked so bare. We had a young fellow help us install the cabinets. Warren held the cabinet while Eric attached the cabinets to the wall. He was a great help to us. The cabinets went in beautifully and the was ready for the countertops, appliances and sink to be placed. The framer had someone else install LVP for the kitchen flooring.
