All New Floors and Balustrades

Image
While we were doing the two in one (see a couple of blogs earlier), we were tearing out 1,000 square feet of carpet upstairs and ripping out another 1,000 square feet of older hardwood floors downstairs of another house. We also installed Balustrades, retread the staircases, and installed painted risers. Tearing out the older hardwood floors. Installed floors in bedrooms, hallway,  livingand dining rooms, made transitions between kitchen and foyer, installed flooring in kitchen and sunken family room. Made and installed new Balustrades: newel posts, handrails and used metal balusters. We also had our drop cloth cleaned . 😂

Antique Doors

There is a Funeral Home in a nearby town that needed it's exterior doors refinished.  The property manager contacted us last November for us to come evaluate the job.  There were spots of bare wood was showing, so we advised to use shallac on them to winter over, and we'll come in May when the weather is favorable to refinish them on sight.   We started with scraping. Then we sanded them with 40, 80, and 100 grit sandpaper.  After the sanding, we then used spar varnish marine grade polyurethane, 3 coats. The whole process took a week and a half.

Brightening Up A Bit

Most floors that we refinish has that aluminum oxide finish that fades or yellows over time, expecially if the sunlight beats down on it.    With this floor the homeowner wanted it refinished to the original color. We sanded, stained it gunstock color, then three coats of professional polyurethane. Good as new!  😊

Two in One

This past winter we refinished two staircases in one house, the front grand foyer and the back steps. The front staircase was a spiral we sanded, stained and finished to match the floors that another flooring company refinished.  BEFORE DURING AFTER The back steps, we took apart the handrails and refinished them in our woodshop. We refinished the newel posts on site, stained them to match the refinished floors.  BEFORE DURING AFTER
