A New Look

Image
With this staircase, we had previously taken down the the newel post because we had refinished the floors a few weeks ago.  We tore out the carpet and installed new treads and risers. We also tore down the rest of the balustrade and installed a custom made balustrade. It was so nice to update the house to a more modern look. 😊

A Widened Doorway

Image
There were two doorways that the homeowner had made wider to put in double doors. In doing so, some of the floor needed new wood installed. We came and did that. We then stained and finished the new boards espresso color with oil base professional urethane.

A Different Wood

This was a pre-finished floor that we did not know what the wood was. Was it bamboo? It was soft, lots of scratch marks. We figured it was a tropical wood.  Foyer Powder room  Breakfast nook Kitchen We started sanding and saw how quickly the finish was coming up. The more we sanded we recognized that it was rubber wood. When we finish chairs and tables that is where we see this wood.  This was the first rubber wood floor we have refinished  The homeowner wanted to change the color to Jacobean, a nice dark brown color. New Balustrade to Match Floors

Image
We built a new balustrade and stained it to match the floors. We made the box newels, made the handrails, and balusters.    The box newels posts and handrails were made out of red oak and the painted balusters were made from poplar.
